Nadi #Day16

After breaky we treated ourself to a traditional fijian bobo massage! If was so relaxing a fell asleep 3 times!

We had a lot of time to kill before catching our flight but there really isnt a whole lot to do in Nadi so we just chilled by the pool and got some food at the hotel restaurant.

At 4pm we caught a taxi to the airport. Our flight was at 7:20pm Fiji time and we landed in Melbourne at 11:00pm, a 5 and a half hour flight!

It was 29 degrees in Nadi when we left and it was 4 degrees in Melbourne, ARGHH!

So sad to be leaving but we had the most incredible time and had some incredible experiences that I will never forgot. Im sure I will visit the stunning islands and beautiful people of Fiji again.

Barefoot Kuata #Day15

Todays the day we dive with sharks. I had a bit of a restless sleep last night as I'm quite nervous but I know it's going to he incredible!

We went for a little hike to a viewpoint before our 11am dive.

We got briefed about how the boats get anchored and then we enter the water and go down behind a rock wall. Our dive instructor Jimmy got us all geared up and then we went in the water. We descended and before we knew it we were kneeling behind the wall with bull sharks right in front of us!
2 mean were our in front of us behind a metal barrier, 1 was feeding the sharks fish heads while the other had a metal pole to deter any sharks that came too close. Other instructors were positioned in between us with metal poles with a loop on the end to put up just incase the sharks came to close. The position we were in was so incredible to watch them feeling and they swam straight in front of our faces.
It was such an incredible once in a life time experience that I will never forget.
If someone had told me I would be diving with sharks and not in cage, I wouldn't have believed them! But after being educated on how misunderstood creatures they are and our fear of them is because we have been brainwashed by the media.
I'm so grateful that we got to see this magnificent, graceful, peaceful creatures up close.

We spent the rest of the afternoon snorkeling on the beautiful reef soaking everything in for the last time.

We were so sad to leave! The ferry arrived at 4 and we arrived back to Port, the mainland at 6. We grabbed a quick snack at the bakery before catching our bus transfer to the hotel, Smugglers Cove. We grabbed dinner at the resturant and heading to bed. Our last night here in Fiji!

Barefoot Kuata #Day14

The sun is out HORRRAYY. We were so excited we went straight to the beach after breaky. It was low tide and really shallow and clear so we could see small baby reef sharks and a stingray.

At 11am we went on a boat trip to see reef sharks. It was about 15/20minutes on the little boat out to a deep reef. The sharks were bigger then I was expecting after seeing the tiny ones in the shore but they are still only just over a meter in length. It was hard to get close to them because they were very deep so we did plenty of duck diving!
Such an amazing experience!

After lunch we got the opportunity to have a trail scuba dive. We did this because tomorrow we are diving with bull sharks! This is the only place in the world where uncertified divers can dive with sharks. We are so nervous but it's a once in a life time opportunity. Laura was worried about her ears and equalising so the dive instructor took us out for just under an hour to explain the equipment and how to use it. We all linked arms and went down to 5 meters. It was incredible! I can't go back to snorkelling now! It was such an amazing experience. Now we are all fine with the dive we have the go ahead for tomorrow.

As soon as we got out of the water we dived back in with our snorkel (not nearly as great now) for another hour.

Tonight is our last night at a small island as we travel back to Port, the mainland tomorrow.

Barefoot Kuata #Day13

It rained all last night and all day today! This is the most cloudy it's been so far. There isn't a whole lot to do on an island when its bucketing down rain. In the morning we learnt how to do some leave weaving! Then from the weaving the man made a bag!

We spent most of the day sitting under the dining room shelter using the wifi and then in our hut watching movies in bed on our phone.

Finally at about 5:30 I said screw it I'm going for a walk in the rain and im so glad we did because the sun came out as it was setting and it was such an incredible sunset! And a rainbow!

For dinner we had a lovo bbq which is a traditional fijian style of cooking the food in an underground oven. Yummo.

Barefoot Kuata #Day12

Breakfast this morning was delicious especially some homemade fruit bread.
Today was a bit of a nothing day as we had 0 activities planned so we did a whole lot of nothing! It was probably the first day I was a little bored although I got to finish my book! First time in a long time I read a book start to finish in 10 days.

We went for a little snorkel and I went for an explore walking along some rocks. The rock formations are incredible.
I made friends with a hermit crab too.

The best part about lunch was this gianormous fish where you pull the meat off the bone yourself, so tasty.
We spent the rest of the afternoon sunbaking although the sun was hiding behind the clouds a bit.
Dinner was set up just along side the beach with tablecloths and candlelight. A large bonfire was made again too.

Barefoot Kuata #Day11

This morning we checked out of our rooms just after 9 and we had a few hours to kill before the ferry departed at about 1:30 so we sunbaked and went for a swim.
The ferry journey took under 3 hours and we spent the whole time soaking up some sun on the top deck.

We arrived at 4pm and wow it is so crazy beautiful here!!!!! A 'fijian warrior' was dancing at top of a giant rock to greet us when our boat arrived.

These cascading rocks everywhere. The views are just incredible. Our little home is so cute and we have our own bathroom whoho! With an outdoor shower with a lot of spiders in it haha

Near the dining area and pools there are the most picturesque views. Check out the hammock.

We walked up some steps to a picnic table sunset view. The sunset tonight was by far the most beautiful so far. A man came up and started playing the violin, felt like something out of a movie.

We had a wine and a buffet style dinner. Then we went down to the beach for a bonfire and had a singalong with one of the locals with a guitar.

Once back in the room I had to remove the ginormous huntsman for Laura from the shower which was hilarious but also terrifying haha
We fell asleep with moths falling on us, lizards climbing across the ceiling and this very strange bird noise coming from various places in the roof.

Blue Lagoon #Day10

Slept for almost 12 hours last night! After a huge breaky we went for a little hike to a lovely view point! It was definitely worth the hike up. We saw rainbow coloured skinks a long the way.

Then we went for a big snorkel along the reef off the beach. It was sooo much better this time as the visibility was amazing and it was high tide.

At 2:30 we went for a boat/snorkel trip! The coral was so different which was really cool to see. We went to two locations which was awesome.

Tonight is our last night here at blue laggon resort as we are catching the ferry to Barefoot Kuata tomorrow which is a 3 and a half journey back down South.
We enjoyed our last amazing dinner having pork belly yummmmo.
