Delhi #Day2

Day 2: Thursday the 7th of November

We got picked up by a bus and greeted with flower lanyards!

As soon as we stepped out of the airport we could not only smell the pollution in the air, we could see it.
We arrived at our hotel, on the outskirts of nowhere. No one seemed to know what was going on and kept telling us random times that our rooms would be ready but we waited for hours.

I managed to organise a taxi which could takes us to some temples and markets. It was so hard to organise and there seemed to be only the one car available! We gave up on waiting and headed out to the bustling crazy streets of Delhi. There are cows, dogs and vehicles everywhere all honking their horns to create a never ending buzz.

Our taxi drivers name was Jeo. He was a lovely kind man who took us everywhere we wanted to go and waited patiently. He even gave me one of his mobile phones so I could call him if I needed.
We made to friends from our tour, Brian and Andre who came along with us too!

The first place we went to was over an hour away. It is a mosque called 'Qutub Minar'. It was incredible!!!

The buildings and gardens were stunning we couldn't believe it. It was raining but it seemed to ad to the beauty of the greenery.

We had to pay a foreign entry fee of 600 rupees while the Indians payed only 40 rupees!
So many people asked to have photos with me and everyone stared at me! Apparently Indian people love to see foreigners.

The beautiful tall structure.Another hour in traffic, and we arrived at Akshardham. Relatively new, it was only build in 2005. We weren't aloud to take any devices/cameras in much to our horror as we couldn't capture the sheer beauty and magnitude of this place!

We went inside the temple and my jaw was on the ground basically the whole time, gawking at the incredibly detailed carvings that rose to the ceiling. I'd never seen anything like it!
You couldn't help but feel spiritual in such a tranquil place.

From here we asked to go to some markets. Jeo took us into the center of Delhi to Connaught Place. We went to this maze of underground stalls right in the heart of the city. It was lots of fun bartering the prices down.
I am so jetlagged as I have only slept about 2 hours in the past 34 hours. Our ride back to the hotel was only 15kms but took 55 minutes.
We were so excited for a shower after being in our grubby airport clothes. Time for sleep-Jetlaggggged.
